Summary/Objectives
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform (or demonstrate a positive performance trend) all key accountabilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Aligns with Wardcraft’s Culture and Values.
2. Establishes department goals.
3. Prepares and administers the departmental budget.
4. Evaluates cost proposals and R.O.I.
5. Develop and design products within the full array of Wardcraft offerings. Capable of meeting customer requirements and industry standards using existing, modified and/or new designs.
6. Assists in the development and administration of company policy/procedures (additions and/or changes).
7. Assists in all aspects of daily engineering responsibilities when required.
8. Provide technical direction to support personnel, company departments, and customers as needed.
9. Works in harmony with all other departments.
10. Expected to evaluate and handle both customer and company emergencies as needed.
11. All other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has direct report of the other Engineers
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This position may require you to spend time in the shop environment.
Physical Demands: The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: The position is full-time salary. The typical workweek is Monday through Friday, hours based on business needs. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Requirements
Preferred/Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or eight years’ experience in the machine design industry.
Knowledge of CAD/CAM, GD&T, machining, and material science.
Experience with computer programs such as: Word, Excel, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Project.
Knowledge of advanced engineering theory, tools and procedures.
Knowledge and application of product lines that Wardcraft provides.
Quality concepts, Safety and ergonomics, Materials, Government controls and regulation, Resource allocation, Failure mode and effect analysis, Advanced technologies, problem solving techniques, Root cause analysis, Benchmarking.
Develop and design new products or modify and improve existing products for multiple product lines. Ensure products meet the customer’s expectations and any applicable industry standards. Provide technical assistance to all internal departments, suppliers, and customers as it relates to the product.
