The Engineering Manager leads Brighton Jones' software engineering and integration team. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who balances writing code with leading engineers, making architecture decisions, and driving delivery.
We're evolving our integration approach toward a development-focused engineering practice. You'll lead that transition while owning day-to-day delivery for our internal applications, integrations, and AI-powered tools.
What You’ll Do:
Lead a small team of engineers (currently 2, growing to 3 by 2027)
Architecture decisions and technical direction across the engineering function
Sprint planning, code reviews, technical standards, and engineering culture
Modernization of our integration platform and patterns
Partnership with the Cloud & Platform Engineer on CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and deployment automation
Cross-functional delivery for Product, Data & Systems, and Operations teams
Hands-on contribution to architecture, complex problem solving, and key builds
Mentorship and growth of engineers, including recruiting future hires
What You Bring:
8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in technical leadership
Strong technical depth in modern stacks (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, cloud-native)
Experience with integration patterns (APIs, event-driven architecture, ETL/ELT)
Hands-on cloud experience (Azure preferred given M365 alignment; AWS or GCP also welcome)
Track record leading small teams in shared-service environments with multiple internal customers
Comfort owning build and buy decisions and articulating the tradeoffs
Bonus: Salesforce ecosystem familiarity (Financial Services Cloud, Apex, SFDC integrations)
Bonus: AI/ML application experience (LLM integration, RAG, agent frameworks)
The Opportunity:
Build a modern engineering function on a strong foundation
Direct influence on AI, automation, and digital worker initiatives
Hands-on technical leadership with executive visibility
Greenfield to shape engineering practices, standards, and culture
Strong growth runway as the function scales
