Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager – Cathodic Protection to lead the Houston Region's technical engineering organization.
The Engineering Manager will oversee engineering resources, technical standards, quality, employee development, and technical support for Operations, Business Development, customers, and industry partners.
The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of Cathodic Protection engineering experience and CP-3 or CP-4 level expertise, with strong technical leadership and people-management experience.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the work of Cathodic Protection Engineers.
Provide technical guidance on cathodic protection design, engineering principles, material applications, field surveys, and technical reporting.
Provide technical leadership and support for complex engineering projects.
Hire, train, mentor, and develop engineering personnel.
Manage employee performance, development, and technical training.
Coordinate engineering resources with Sales and Operations teams.
Plan and coordinate field engineering activities.
Support annual engineering budget planning and resource forecasting.
Ensure engineering personnel comply with company safety requirements.
Interact directly with customers regarding complex technical issues and engineering requirements.
Schedule and coordinate engineering resources and subcontractors to meet project commitments.
Review surveys, design information, proposals, and technical deliverables.
Establish project objectives, methodologies, procedures, and technical expectations.
Visit jobsites to provide technical guidance and support project execution.
Partner with Business Development and Operations to support customer requirements and successful project delivery.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
CP-3 or CP-4 level Cathodic Protection experience — HIGH PRIORITY.
8+ years of Cathodic Protection engineering experience.
Strong knowledge of cathodic protection design, field surveys, engineering principles, and technical reporting.
Experience working with Operations and Business Development teams.
Strong technical leadership and customer-facing communication skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and engineering resources.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of supervisory or people-management experience.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
Experience managing Cathodic Protection Engineers or technical engineering teams.
Experience supporting oil & gas, utilities, water/sewer, transportation, or other critical infrastructure projects.
Experience coordinating field engineering activities and subcontractors.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and engineering databases.
