Engineering Manager - Commercial Products

Job Description - Engineering Manager - Commercial Products

We’re AD/01, the tech studio that builds the future of food retail. Whether it’s in-store aisles, online baskets, or behind-the-scenes operations, we innovate the daily food experiences for farmers and families, grandmas and greengrocers, and pickers and packers alike.

Your new role and environment.

As Engineering Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead and inspire talented engineers while working on cutting-edge projects in the Merchandising area (Pricing, Promotions, Assortment/Planogramming). You will help shape innovative solutions that optimize pricing, promotions and assortment processes, establish integrations of WMS, POS, E-commerce and other tools with the core ERP, governance and controls, all while fostering a culture of collaboration, growth and technical excellence. This is a chance to make a real impact on how we serve millions of customers every day, in a team that values creativity, autonomy and continuous learning.

Key responsibilities of your role.

Your role is highly diverse and encompasses various responsibilities. Here are the key ones:

  • Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams by mentoring, coaching and supporting career growth while fostering autonomy and a culture of collaboration and technical curiosity.

  • Own technical delivery and performance within your domain, ensuring products are built to be scalable, reliable and fit for purpose.

  • Drive engineering excellence by promoting best practices and enabling continuous improvement across systems and processes.

  • Balance hands-on technical engagement with leadership – while most of your time will be spent enabling the team, you will remain technically current and contribute strategically to the product backlog.

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects and cross-functional teams to align technical execution with product vision, roadmap priorities and business objectives.

  • Manage complex technology landscapes and ensure the architecture and technical solutions support operational excellence, system reliability and scalability.

What’s in it for you?

We ask a lot. (We’re looking for the best, after all). But we offer a lot, too.

So, what do we have in store for you? We offer flexible hours and a hybrid working model, allowing you to work both from home and at the office. We provide competitive benefits to support health, well-being and your professional growth. This includes: a significant budget on benefit platform and a yearly bonus. At AD01 we welcome everyone, just the way you are, and encourage individual growth with valuable opportunities and a worldwide across-brand network.

Requirements.

We think you’ll be best geared for success if you can meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field is required.

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a DevOps mindset

  • Domain expertise in the products, applications, or technology areas relevant to Pricing, Promotions, and Assortment / Planogramming.

  • 2+ years in leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teams, fostering autonomy, collaboration and a culture of continuous learning.

  • 5+ years SAP IS-Retail implementation experience

    • Support experience of at least 1 year is a plus

  • Solid understanding of agile ways of working and mentality.

    • Focus on delivering value at every iteration

    • Experience in Agile Methodologies (SAFe) and hands on experience in agile tools (Atlassian)

  • Experience working in international and cross-functional environments.

  • Fluent in English

It goes without saying that so-called ‘soft skills’ are just as important as their ‘hard’ cousins. We highly value:

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

    • Comfortable with presenting and public speaking

    • Clearly articulate vision and strategy for team to execute

    • Manage expectations both up and down the organization

    • Manage conflict

  • Ability to operate within a large team in a matrix organization.

  • Results oriented: ability to simplify and decompose complex problems.

  • Team player: involves others, shares knowledge, and seeks opportunities for cross functional collaboration.

  • Demonstrates flexibility; revises plans and decisions in the light of latest information and changing circumstances.
