We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead Mechanical and Electrical Engineering teams for a growing industrial capital-equipment manufacturer. This role is responsible for engineering strategy, automation systems, product development, technical leadership, and cross-functional execution from design through manufacturing and commissioning.
The ideal candidate has strong experience designing and manufacturing industrial capital equipment, combined with deep hands-on expertise in PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial controls.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Mechanical and Electrical Engineering departments (5+ engineers)
Drive engineering strategy, product innovation, R&D, and continuous improvement
Partner with Sales, Project Management, and Manufacturing teams on customer-driven solutions
Oversee design, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of industrial automation systems
Manage engineering budgets, schedules, staffing, and performance reviews
Ensure compliance with engineering standards, customer specifications, and quality requirements
Support development of vacuum furnaces, thermal-processing systems, and related capital equipment
Improve manufacturing efficiency, process reliability, and cost controls
Review and approve CAD designs, automation architecture, and technical documentation
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
7–10 years of experience in industrial machinery or capital-equipment design/manufacturing
3–5 years of formal engineering management experience with direct reports
Strong background in industrial automation and controls
Experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and instrumentation
Proficiency with CAD software and Microsoft Office
Experience working in cross-functional engineering environments
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with heat-treatment equipment, vacuum furnaces, or thermal-processing systems
Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLC platforms (500/5000)
Experience with Wonderware / InTouch and HC900 Design Station
Knowledge of FEA and CFD tools
Mechanical engineering exposure within capital-equipment systems
Industries & Backgrounds Considered
Candidates from industrial furnace manufacturing, thermal-processing systems, aerospace equipment, process equipment, industrial automation, or other heavy industrial capital-equipment environments are encouraged to apply.
