Job Description - Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Manager

We are in search of an experienced EPC Manager with a solid background in overseeing the construction lifecycle and complete deployment of solar projects, from NTP through EPC contract negotiation to COD, as well as overseeing future asset management of our solar projects. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a successful history of delivering community solar projects from NTP to COD, with a focus on structuring the legal framework to ensure quality, efficiency, and strict adherence to timelines and costs.
The candidate will manage and oversee EPC activities in various U.S. markets particularly in the Northeast and Midwest regions, as part of SPG's project development initiatives. We expect a minimum of 20 MW to reach commercial operation (COD) over the next 18 months.
The successful candidate will be reporting to the CEO. The work for this position will be structured with a hybrid setup, allowing for a combination of in-office and remote work.

U.S. (Northeast/Midwest) or Canada (Greater Toronto Area)
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A master’s degree is an advantage.
At least 5-8 years experience in managing EPC activities for ground mounted solar projects in the US.
Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
In-depth understanding of solar technologies, engineering principles, and construction practices. Experience in coordinating with multiple stakeholders such as utility companies, EPC contractors, and regulatory bodies.
Problem solver with exceptional tenacity.
Has thorough understanding of engineering drawings, including civil, mechanical, and electrical (low voltage and high voltage).
Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, regulations and safety protocols.
A team player with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in project management software and tools: MS Project and AutoCAD or similar project engineering management software as P6 Primavera.
An understanding of EPC compliance with the Investment Tax Credit (ITC) reporting and financing requirements and financial reporting would be an asset.
With valid driver’s license and amenable to frequent travel to project sites.
The candidate should reside in the U.S. particularly Northeast or Midwest region or in the GTA, Ontario and be willing to travel to job sites in the US regularly.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all facets of distributed generation solar projects, encompassing tasks such as project planning, budgeting, procurement, project controls/reporting, scheduling, risk management.
Guarantee the timely completion of all projects and adherence to the approved budget.
Develop and direct the implementation of the quality management plan and instill a culture of quality throughout the project.
Manage risks associated with the EPC Agreement and ensure design compliance with contract obligations.
Troubleshoot project challenges and implement effective solutions.
Cultivate relationships with project team members, client representatives, consultants, trade contractors, and local governmental officials.
Monitor project budgets, schedules, and scopes, making adjustments as necessary to deliver the projects on time and budget.
Make sure that all activities align with the relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
Contribute to financial tracking by approving job expenditures, assist and process monthly requisitions, manage the change order process, assist in Loss-Control Management, and oversee project assets.
Communicate milestone achievement to lenders and ensure financing for construction is available.
Provide management with timely and precise reports e.g. project status, cost updates, issues, among others.
Establish and execute job procedures and methods to ensure prompt completion of procurement, approval of shop drawings, and delivery of materials.
Manage, monitor, and supervise the schedule for design deliverables to support permits, procurement, off-site production, construction, testing, commissioning, and project closure.
Properly document all significant project events, including accidents, delays, and Change Orders, project issues, among others.
Ensure all permits and relevant documents are stored in the company’s knowledge base.
Capability to properly execute in compliance with potential subsidies is a must.
