English language teacher in Carmel, IN

Job Information:

• Availability: S has a flexible schedule and would like to coordinate it with the teacher.

• Lesson Frequency: 2-3 times per week
• Lesson Duration: 1 hour each class
• Student’s location/time zone: Westfield, IN 46074 (near First Start Computer Science & Art Studio on 13980 Amblewind Pl)
• Current target language level: Advanced (would like to have his level assessed)
• Language spoken at home: Chinese
• Student’s language needs and goals: To be able to communicate with local people more efficiently and speak more like a native. Generally, live like a local native speaker. He is interested in business culture, business language as well as local culture, day-to-day local language and cultural language behavior, slangs, idioms, expressions. hobbies and interests, popular holidays, common phases native speakers use every day, listening comprehension tips and strategies, pronunciation and accents, job related vocabulary, US school system related information, and other things useful to make him adapt to his new life and community in the US.  He needs structured lessons meaning the teacher has an organized syllabus for the class and not just random sessions. 
• Additional information: His interests are food, culture, politics, sports, gym, music and more. He lived in the UK for four years and eared a PhD degree there. But that was ten years ago. After going back to China, he didn't  use English in a working environment, although he enjoys movies and music in English. His spoken ability got a little rusty. So what he needs mostly at the moment is to gain more opportunities to practice more in a real environment. He is a very open minded person and easy to talk to.

• Delivering tailored, dynamic, effective, and engaging lessons
• Developing curricula based on learners’ proficiency level and desired outcomes
• Monitoring students’ progress and guiding learners towards learning goals
• Communicating in an efficient, effective, and professional manner

Qualifications:

• Native or near-native written and spoken proficiency in the target language
• Certificate or degree in language teaching, education, instructional design, writing, language, linguistics, second-language acquisition, or related field
• Minimum of two years of experience
