Description

The Enhanced Corrosion Service Technician supports Marine Corps Corrosion Prevention and Control (CPAC) operations by performing surface preparation, touch‑up painting, corrosion assessments, and routine equipment maintenance. Working as a key member of the ECST, this role supports the Assistant Team Lead and Team Lead, follows CPAC policies and procedures, and contributes to reliable, high‑quality corrosion mitigation across Marine Corps assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety & PPE Compliance — Follow all safety procedures and properly use required PPE, including respirators.
  • Equipment Operation — Operate generators, air dryers, MBRS units, compressors, application guns, grinders, and vacuums.
  • Corrosion Identification — Accurately identify corrosion category codes 1–5 and the four stages of corrosion.
  • Corrosion Assessments — Conduct assessments using the Marine Corps CPAC Corrosion Assessment Checklist (CAC).
  • Surface Preparation & Touch‑Up — Perform surface prep and touch‑up painting on military and support equipment.
  • Equipment Maintenance — Conduct routine maintenance on ECST application equipment.
  • Training Support — Provide standardized/routine training to team members when required.
  • Travel — Travel as needed to support CPAC operations.


Requirements
  • Licensing — Possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Credentialing — Able to pass a background check for DBIDS access.
  • Mechanical Knowledge — Working understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Task Management — Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and follow corrective action plans.
  • Attention to Detail — Maintain strict accuracy in assessments and documentation.
  • Communication — Follow instructions clearly and communicate effectively.
  • Teamwork — Work well within a structured team environment.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

    • Lifting — Safely lift up to 50 lbs during short‑duration tasks.
    • Equipment Access — Mount/dismount military equipment of varying heights.
    • Outdoor Work — Work for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
    • PPE Use — Wear dust masks or fitted respirators; annual OSHA 1910.134 quantitative fit test required.

Education & Experience

    • Baseline Education — High school diploma or equivalent; vocational degree accepted.
    • CST Experience — Two years of CST experience preferred.
    • Military Background — Prior military experience preferred but not required.
    • Certification — Must complete CPAC certification prior to assignment; annual recertification required.
