Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico, the state's leading youth mentoring organization is seeking a full-time Enrollment Coordinator

Big Brothers Big Sisters CNM provides a generous PTO package, health, dental, vision and life insurances, as well as matching 401(k). In addition, staff members have flexible schedules and are eligible to earn quarterly bonuses after their training period.

The Enrollment Coordinator ensures that volunteers and children are appropriately enrolled and matched while executing a high degree of independent judgement, utilizing BBBS standards and practices. Coordinators work directly with Piecework Enrollment Specialists (PWES), ensuring they are well-trained on the interview process for all programs, and in customer service skills. Coordinators work one Saturday a month to work directly with PWES, including a monthly meeting with updates on forms, programs, and protocols. These staff members are a part of the enrollment team and work closely with other departments, as needed.

Salary Range: $16.50-$18.00/hr

Position responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service to volunteers and families from their initial inquiry to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
  • Ensure that each client and volunteer are moved expeditiously through the enrollment process through clear communication.
  • Schedule in-person and virtual interviews.
  • Interview and assess clients and volunteers.
  • Identify and eliminate any barriers to the enrollment process.
  • Assist volunteers in determining their suitability for each program by asking questions and providing program information.
  • Determine appropriateness of volunteers and clients for various programs. Provide matching and training recommendations.
  • Complete volunteer background and reference checks. Fingerprint volunteers as needed.
  • Match volunteers and youth in mentor/mentee relationships based on compatibility.
  • Attendance at Enrollment Department meetings, individual coaching sessions, and additional training is required. Train new team members as needed.
  • Represent Enrollment Manager when a manager is not available.
  • Assist Enrollment Manager with file review each month.
  • Work with Advancement team on recruiting Littles.
  • Data entry into Big Brothers Big Sisters databases.
  • Promote Big Brothers Big Sisters during every interaction.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. BA in social services, sociology, psychology, or related field preferred. College transcripts will be required. 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills both in-person and by phone.
  • Ability to effectively assess and execute the following relational support skills: guiding, supporting, confronting, advising and/or negotiating.
  • Ability to relate well in multicultural environments.
  • Solid interview and assessment skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various databases.
  • Bilingual applicants (Spanish / English) strongly encouraged to apply 

Physical Requirements: 

Position is primarily an office setting, requiring long periods of sitting at a desk and computer. The position requires the ability to lift 20 pounds unassisted, 40 pounds with assistance. Frequent visits to donor sites or securing agency supplies may require driving in inclement weather or in the evening after sunset. The ability to navigate within the city limits helpful.
