Overview






Enterprise Planning Vision/Mission:

  • Orchestrate Electric Boat’s transformation to achieve an unprecedented volume of production and support future demands
  • Achieve submarine production rate and support the readiness of our shipyard and workforce through strategic investments, targeted innovation and collaborative execution

The Enterprise Planning Improvement & Technology Team is seeking a highly motivated candidate who can support the mission of transforming Electric Boat with technology, new equipment, process improvements and design changes through the integration of the improvement programs aligned to capacity and span needs (i.e. two Virginia-class and one Columbia-class submarine delivered per year).

 

This role supports a high performing team responsible for enterprise span reduction, continuous improvement, technology development, and cost reduction initiatives aimed at improving manufacturability and affordability across the Virginia-class program. The selected candidate will contribute to implementing improvements to existing ship design, manufacturing processes, and business practices to enhance overall efficiency and performance.

 

This candidate will need to operate with minimal supervision and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. This position is well suited for someone who is driven, curious, and willing to learn. The team is committed to developing the right candidate who demonstrates initiative, accountability, and a strong work ethic.

 

The position requires collaboration across multiple organizations, including Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Design Engineering, the Virginia and Columbia Program Offices, Groton, and Quonset Point Operations, Materials Management, Electric Boat senior leadership, and the Navy customer.

 

Potential Responsibilities for This Position May Include:

  • Assist with idea generation, documentation, and initiation of new projects
  • Ability to review technical information for completeness and assess assumptions and supporting details
  • Prepare materials for programmatic reviews and leadership briefings
  • Interface with stakeholders to provide updates on project status and progress
  • Develop Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M) in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Drive project execution
  • Support development and analysis of program metrics
  • Identify issues and assist in driving corrective actions
  • Help resolve funding or tasking challenges to support uninterrupted execution
  • Contribute to enterprise improvement initiatives and strategy development
  • Present recommendations with team support for leadership alignment
  • Support and coordinate improvement initiatives, including organizing and facilitating improvement events








Qualifications






Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • 5+ years of experience in Project/Program Management, Engineering, Planning, Operations, or Test

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering
  • Familiarity with Electric Boat (EB) business systems and construction processes
  • Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Training
  • PMP Certification
  • Experience with Operations or Lead Yard Task management
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Eight (8) years of experience in Project/Program Management, Engineering, Planning, Operations, Test, or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree of Science

  • Applicants must apply for DOD Security Clearance as a condition of employment. They will be required to obtain and maintain a final secret clearance to remain in this position.
