Job Description - Enterprise Risk Specialist

Position Summary


The Enterprise Risk Specialist supports the development, implementation, and ongoing operation of CoServ’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program, with a primary focus on standing up the organization’s new risk tracking system (OnSpring). This role helps design workflows, intake processes, data structures, and reporting mechanisms under the guidance of the ERM Director. The Specialist ensures high‑quality data, consistent processes, and reliable reporting that strengthen enterprise‑wide risk visibility and supports regulatory readiness.


Responsibilities 



  • ERM System Implementation & Administration

    • Assists in configuring and launching the new ERM system (Onspring), including workflows, forms, fields, scoring logic, and user roles.

    • Supports requirements gathering, testing, and user acceptance activities. Maintains system data, troubleshoots issues, and coordinates with IT and the vendor as needed.

    • Monitors system performance and recommends enhancements. Support change management and user training related to the new system.



  • Key Risk Indicator Data & Quality Control

    • Maintains data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across ERM modules.

    • Conducts routine data audits and works with risk owners to resolve discrepancies.

    • Identifies data requiring taxonomy, categorization, and scoring consistency and works with the ERM Director to coordinate needs with risk owners.



  • Risk Intake, Tracking & Workflow Support

    • Manage the intake of new risks, incident tracking, and mitigation updates.

    • Track deadlines, follow‑ups, and escalation triggers.

    • Coordinate with risk owners to ensure timely updates and documentation.



  • Reporting & Dashboard Support

    • Prepare monthly and quarterly ERM reports, maintain dashboards and heat maps, and generally assist in preparing materials for the Enterprise Risk Committee.



  • Documentation & Process Development

    • Work with Regulatory Compliance and Corporate Records to develop and maintain ERM procedures, SOPs, job aids, and workflow documentation.

    • Maintain regulatory library, and generally support regulatory readiness, calendars, deadlines and drafts.



  • Administrative & Operational Support

    • Schedule risk reviews, risk assessments, follow‑up meetings, and system training sessions.

    • Manage shared inboxes or intake channels. Support vendor coordination and contract needs related to the ERM system and future module expansions.




Position Requirements 



  • High School graduation or GED equivalent required

  • Regardless of education, 2 years experience supporting or implementing a workflow‑based tracking system (GRC, ERM, audit, RMIS, compliance, or similar) required

  • Experience coordinating across multiple departments

  • High level of internal political acumen and capability to represent department in certain executive-level administrative interactions


Education, Experience, and Certifications Preferred 



  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree from accredited College preferred.

  • Experience with OnSpring (highly preferred but not mandatory).

  • Experience in risk management, compliance, or audit functions

  • Experience in electric utility, gas utility, or cooperative operations.

  • Experience supporting system implementations or process stand‑ups.

Skills and Abilities Preferred 



  • Basic reporting or dashboarding skills (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)

  • Basic understanding of GRC, ERM, IRM, RMIS or other risk management software tools

  • Basic understanding of Excel Spreadsheet creation and basic functions


Physical Requirements 



  • Operates office equipment such as a computer, telephone, copier, etc.

  • Indoor, office environment.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of [25] pounds.

  • Ability to drive occasionally as needed.

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.

  • Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching.


Other Requirements



  • Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.
