Entry Level Accountant

Entry Level Accountant needed for our education client in Towson, MD. The Entry Level Accountant will process transactions, review journal entries and verify the accuracy of payments. Six month contract position with possible extension. The non-negotiable pay rate is $19.25 per hour.


Essential Duties:

• Processes interfaces and uploads transactions to the financial system. Reviews documents to ensure their proper backup.
  
• Processes the manual disbursement documents in the financial system to record Automated Clearing House (ACH) disbursements.
  
• Maintains system open and close periods to ensure transactions are posted to the proper fiscal year.
  
• Processes periodic batch and chain jobs in the financial system and monitors them for completion.
  
• Reviews journal entries for proper backup documentation and accurate coding and approvals.
  
• Receives, reviews, and processes invoices for a variety of payable accounts. Resolves discrepancies, which may require extensive research.
  
• Reviews purchase orders, invoices, receiving confirmations, invoice approvals, and purchase order verifications to ensure that payments to vendors can be made promptly.
  
• Processes reimbursements to schools and travel and mileage reimbursements for employees. Ensures their compliance with travel policies, rules, and procedures.
  
• Verifies the accuracy of accounts payable checks before mailing.
  

Qualifications:

• Must have at least one year of accounting experience.
  
• A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration is required.
• Must have proficient Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
  
• Must be able to work from 7:30 am - 3:45 pm or 8:00 am - 4:15 pm and include a 45 minute unpaid lunch break on site.
  
• Must be able to pass a FBI background check and drug test.
