The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Glenwood, Illinois is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic.

Testing is being conducted for immediate hiring to fill several Full-Time Firefighter/Paramedic positions and to establish an Eligibility List for future hiring needs.

Glenwood Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services (EMS) to the community’s 8300 resident population. 
The Department’s current personnel staffing includes five full-time and twenty-eight Paid-On-Call (P.O.C.)   • Must be a U.S. Citizen

            Provide Birth Certificate or Certificate of Citizenship.

            Permanent Resident Card (if applicable).

  • Applicants must be between the age of 21st Birthday and under the age of 35 unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6. 
  • Proof of High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Basic Operations Firefighter certification.
  • Certified Paramedic or a Certified EMT-B who is currently enrolled in a paramedic training course.
  • HazMat Operations Certified.
  • Licensed Paramedic Must be able to work in the South Cook County Medical System.
  • Valid CPAT Test certification with ladder climb, by the date of a conditional offer of employment
  • Valid Driver’s license
BENEFITS
  • Starting Salary: Beginning salary will be up to $73,500.00, dependent on qualifications.
  • Working Shifts:  24 hours on duty then 48 hours off.
  • Clothing and Gear: Initial Uniform Outfitting will be provided by the department.
  • Advance Trainings: Additional advance trainings will be provided by the department. 
  • Annual Vacation Time: 80 hours after one (1) year of service.
  • Eleven paid holidays.
  • Two annual paid personal days.
  • Ability to accrue compensatory time off.
  • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance.
  • College Tuition Reimbursement.
  • NO Residency Requirement.
