Entry Level Mechanic, Amarillo

Job Overview: The position Rail Modal Group is seeking is for an Entry Level Mechanic. This position will have the guidance and training from two Senior Mechanics and the General Manager. The Mechanic is a vital member of the Amarillo Maintenance and Repair team within RMG. The Mechanic’s primary responsibility will include fluid and filter changes, disassembly and reassembly of equipment as directed, and small generator repairs. This position will receive training from other mechanics on how to work on other equipment and improve their knowledge and skills to become a stronger mechanic. Maintenance and repair is fast paced and requires individuals to effectively communicate when working with heavy machinery. The Mechanic must maintain a safe yet efficient mindset when maintaining facility equipment to best assist and support with the successful onward movement of customer cargoes.

Key Job Duties:

• Execute work instructions and communicate progress over the radio or on a tablet
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment including brakes, oil, fluid and filter changes, and other repairs.
• Perform maintenance on chassis, lift equipment, terminal trucks, and containers
• Readily dispatch to operationally critical damaged equipment in the yard with the goal of quickly bringing the machine back to safe working condition
• Continuously learn from senior mechanics and management
• Perform other duties assigned by leadership

• Highschool diploma or equivalent preferred
• Organizational skills
• Effective communication
• Time management
• Experience with Microsoft office products, terminal operating systems, SharePoint or google drive
• Experience with Microsoft office tools, reporting, and terminal operating systems
• Experience on CMMS highly desired
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Ability to push and pull up to 80 pounds occasionally
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders
