Entry-Level Environmental Engineer - Remediation

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Civil/Environmental Engineer to join our Remediation team based in our Clifton, NJ office. We are seeking candidates who wish to establish a career in civil or environmental engineering. The successful candidate will collaborate with a diverse team of technical professionals on environmental investigation and remediation projects across New Jersey and New York.

This position requires excellent written and spoken communication skills, organizational and time management skills, flexibility to work in the office or field, and a positive attitude. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and have the ability to work both independently and as a part of a project team. Note this role may require travel outside of the Clifton, NJ area (from days to weeks) to support projects as needed across the United States.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Provide reliable, flexible engineering services in the field and office.

Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

Develop knowledge of job-specific federal, state, and local laws and regulations and assigned job specifications.

Assist with the preparation of design drawings and specifications, technical reports, and basic design calculations under supervision.

Perform routine fieldwork working under supervision. Field work may include soil, sediment, surface water and/or groundwater sampling, operation and maintenance of remedial systems, remedial construction oversight including subcontractor management, and design site visits.

Collect and analyze data under supervision.

Provide field sketches and coordinate/prepare figures and drawings using GIS and CAD.

Receive, review, and return contractor documents for engineer’s review (submittals/requests for information (RFIs)/change orders).

Prepare cost estimates using existing databases and requesting vendor quotes.

Prepare detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project or similar software.

Attend meetings and report on project tasks as needed.

Utilize computer software to solve basic engineering problems.
