Job Description

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an entry level Environmental Engineer to join our Milwaukee, Wisconsin Remediation team. The ideal candidate will be willing and able to learn new skills and methods on challenging field and office assignments in a collaborative team environment. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting, design, and implementation services to our key clients.

This position is expected to begin in August/September 2025.

Responsibilities for this position may include the following:

  • Conducting environmental field work, including collection of samples for soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, & soil gas analysis, data from remediation systems, groundwater sampling, & fluid level gauging, and oversight of subcontractors.
  • Producing accurate and complete documentation of field work tasks for sampling efforts, system operation, and site inspections, in addition to processing and interpreting field data.
  • Supporting office tasks, including data interpretation, analysis, report preparation with comparison of findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Performing assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks such as remedial alternative analyses.
  • Traveling to project locations including driving and overnight stays.
  • Health and safety planning and hazard recognition.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental/Civil/Geological/Chemical Engineering.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. 
  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review and a substance abuse test.
  • Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Knowledge of WAC ch. NR700 environmental regulations
  • Engineer-in-Training certification.
  • Knowledge of emerging contaminants such as PFAS and 1,4-dioxane.
  • Knowledge of environmental sampling practices.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong quality and time management.
  • Self-starter, develops and delivers work under own initiative.
  • Solid attention to detail and thorough approach to work.
  • Excellent attention to Health and Safety.

Additional Information

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Candidate will submit to medical surveillance screening upon hire.
  • Travel of 40% is required for this position.
  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes office work in Milwaukee, WI.  The selected candidate must be available to work in Milwaukee, WI on a scheduled basis.
