Job Description - Environmental Health & Safety Manager Medical Device Manufacturing
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced EHS Manager to own and continuously improve the Environmental, Health & Safety program at a high-precision manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring full regulatory compliance, strengthening safety culture, and partnering with manufacturing, engineering, and facilities teams to reduce risk across operations.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in medical device or regulated manufacturing environments and has hands-on expertise in OSHA, EPA, NRC, and DOT compliance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the facility-wide Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) program
Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, procedures, and training programs
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NRC, DOT, and applicable state/local regulations
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
Manage EHS documentation, permits, regulatory reporting, and recordkeeping requirements
Coordinate internal audits, inspections, and external regulatory agency interactions
Deliver onboarding, annual, and role-specific safety training programs
Monitor workplace safety conditions and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Support engineering, manufacturing, and facilities teams on new equipment/process safety reviews
Lead emergency preparedness and response planning
Track, analyze, and report key EHS metrics to leadership
Foster a proactive, safety-first culture across all departments
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3–5+ years of EHS experience in medical device manufacturing or highly regulated manufacturing environments
Proven experience building, implementing, and managing site-level EHS programs
Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance requirements (EPA, DOT; NRC experience strongly preferred)
Demonstrated experience with incident investigation, hazard analysis, audits, and corrective action systems
Experience delivering EHS training and driving safety engagement across production environments
Preferred Experience
Exposure to radiation safety or nuclear regulatory frameworks (NRC)
Background in pharmaceutical, biotech, or GMP-regulated manufacturing environments
Experience supporting capital projects, equipment installation, or facility expansion from an EHS standpoint
Strong familiarity with compliance reporting, permitting, and regulatory inspections
Work Environment & Location
Fully on-site role based in Littleton, MA (01460)
Strong preference for candidates within a 45–60 minute commute radius, including: Ayer, Acton, Westford, Concord, Chelmsford, Lowell, Boxborough, Groton, and surrounding areas
Southern New Hampshire candidates (e.g., Nashua) may be considered depending on commute feasibility
Boston-area candidates on the Fitchburg Line may be considered if commute logistics are viable
Relocation is not provided; candidates must have a self-supported relocation plan if moving
