We are seeking an experienced, successful, and engaged Environmental Outreach Coordinator to join our team. This position is expected to work out of our office at 625 Charles St. in San Jose, CA 95112, and limited job-related travel may be required.

Position Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for providing outreach and educational services to all the GreenWaste franchised areas. The Environmental Outreach Coordinator will build and expand waste prevention, reuse and recycling programs for cities, schools, and businesses.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Coordinate and participate in field/community events (schools, businesses, town events, TAC meetings)
Coordinate and lead facility tours of the Materials Recovery Facility and maintain tour equipment clean and presentable
Coordinate and attend all Clean-Up events
Conduct periodic audits of residential, multi-family dwellings, schools, town facilities and commercial sectors as needed
Assist in the education, training, and implementation of SB1383
Prepare presentations, newsletters and educational materials, some translating will be required
Assist in preparation, coordination and review of Town and Outreach reports as needed
Provide support and help coordinate services between operations, residents and customer service
Flexibility with scheduling is needed, typical work week is Monday through Friday with some early morning, evening, and weekend work is required. Job related travel is also required
Assist in other public education and outreach tasks as needed
Cross train and assist with customer service and dispatch roles as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work with residents, businesses and schools on waste prevention, reuse and recycling
Ability to work well with other employees in a team environment and communicate to ensure safety
Strong interpersonal and communications skills; comfortable leading trainings and speaking in front of a group
Proactive, enthusiastic, creative and eagerness to expand knowledge through exposure to a wide variety of company functions
Strong customer service, problem-solving and organizational skills
Excellent writing skills and graphic design skills preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
Ability to manage your time and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Effective problem-solving skills and ability to follow communication procedures, guidelines, and policies

Qualifications:

Valid driver’s license Class C with a good driving record
Experience maintaining effective communications with service organizations, the public, businesses, and governmental agencies.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Environmental Sciences, Public Relations, or related field preferred
Knowledge using Tower or data entry system

Language Skills:

Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)

Physical Demands:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Ability to physically push, pull and lift objects up to 20lbs
Prolonged standing or walking (events)

Work Environment:

Typical work week is Monday through Friday daytime schedule. However, semi-frequent early morning, evening, weekend and holiday work will be required. Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions when attending events. Travel is also an essential part of this position.
