We are seeking an organized and motivated Environmental Program Manager to support the planning, coordination, and delivery of environmental and community-based programs throughout Southern California.
In this role, you will oversee environmental initiatives from planning through implementation, coordinate with community organizations and public-sector partners, monitor program progress, and ensure projects remain aligned with established goals, schedules, and funding requirements.
California Greenworks' documented work includes environmental education, urban revitalization, environmental justice, community forestry, pollution prevention, green-space development, and green economic development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and manage environmental and community improvement programs.
- Develop project schedules, work plans, milestones, and program objectives.
- Coordinate activities with community organizations, government agencies, schools, contractors, volunteers, and other project partners.
- Monitor program progress, deliverables, budgets, and established timelines.
- Coordinate environmental education, urban greening, and community engagement initiatives.
- Prepare program reports, presentations, correspondence, and supporting documentation.
- Support grant-funded projects and maintain documentation required for program reporting.
- Organize community workshops, outreach activities, environmental events, and project meetings.
- Monitor project outcomes and maintain program performance information.
- Identify operational challenges and recommend practical solutions.
- Support environmental justice, sustainability, and neighborhood revitalization initiatives.
- Research environmental programs, funding opportunities, regulations, and community needs.
- Represent the organization at meetings and community events as needed.
- Support continuous improvement of environmental programs and internal processes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Urban Planning, Natural Resources, Public Administration, Community Development, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in environmental programs, project management, sustainability, community development, nonprofit programs, or a related area.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and project-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate program documentation.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or comparable business applications.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.

Work Environment
This position combines program administration with community and project-based activities. Some local travel may be required for meetings, project sites, community events, workshops, and partner activities.
