Under the direction of a Project Manager or Team Leader, the successful candidate will participate in a variety of environmental projects involving field investigations, data collection, analysis, and technical report preparation.
Responsibilities include conducting wetland delineations, listed species surveys, and ecological assessments; analyzing environmental data; identifying impacts and practical solutions; and preparing technical reports and permit applications. The ideal candidate should be capable of working independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative project team.
Duties and Responsibilities: Duties are dynamic and may evolve based on project needs and organizational changes. Responsibilities are tailored to leverage previous experience.
Conducts fieldwork and laboratory sample/data collection, evaluates environmental conditions using standard scientific methods
Assists in preparing work scopes, field and project-wide plans, project reports, and technical memoranda
Performs habitat classification, surveys for threatened and endangered species, conducts wetland delineation to identify and classify wetland areas, analyzes data to identify environmental impacts and develop solutions
Evaluates data and prepares written reports and environmental permit applications, prepares literature summaries and conducts regulatory reviews
Strong work ethic to ensure job requirements are completed with a safety-first approach
Provides technical support including budget tracking, and client or regulatory communications
Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams consisting of clients, planners, engineers, and regulatory staff
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science) from an accredited university, with two years of experience as an Environmental Scientist or equivalent
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) Gopher Tortoise Agent Permit is highly desirable
Valid Florida Driver License
Job Conditions:
Primarily field-based work, with potential to work beyond the typical work week
Daily travel to field sites and frequent overnight travel is required, depending on project demands
Overnight travel for consecutive days is required
Physical work in varying weather conditions in natural outdoor settings, with lifting up to 50 pounds.
Capable of driving a work vehicle
