Job Summary
We are now looking for an Environmental Specialist to ensure Tetra Pak's environmental global policies and Governmental laws are met through the implementation of procedures and techniques. In this role, you will be assessing and minimizing the environmental impact related to the factory's and customer' s production, chemicals and waste, to leverage the knowledge and commitment to the environment.
This position is based in Denton, TX.
Tetra Pak is not considering applicants (Internal or External) who require International relocation to the United States.
What you will do
As an Environmental Specialist, you will:
- Along with environmental culture transformation, play an active role in establishing, implementing, and maintaining procedures and techniques to minimize the environmental impact of our production facility and sitewide, with a focus on chemicals, waste, energy, CO2, and water.
- Drive reduction initiatives for landfill waste (zero landfill), energy consumption, water usage, and emissions in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Lead and support Net Zero, CO₂ reduction, and sustainability initiatives, including tracking, reporting, and identifying opportunities for decarbonization.
- Drive continuous improvement action and projects through the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) program, leading the Environment Pillar and pillar members and collaborating with other pillars to achieve common goals.
- Lead and maintain ISO 14001 certification, coordinating internal and external audits and managing findings in collaboration with Safety & Health (ISO 45001) and Quality (BRC) teams.
- Ensure environmental documentation is accurate, up to date, and compliant with internal and external requirements. Make sure the VOC emissions are below the legal limit.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations (local, state, federal), including chemicals management, waste, energy, air emissions, and water.
- Maintain strong preventive relationships with regulatory agencies (e.g., TCEQ, City of Denton) and coordinate and represent the company during inspections and audits.
- Lead projects and activities along with the Global Tetra Pak sustainability and nature team.
- Make sure the Tetra Pak controls (SOFI) and local authorities are receiving the correct data
- Ensure compliance with Tetra Pak global environmental policies and sustainability standards.
- Provide preventative and corrective emergency response programs for environmental issues/spills.
- Drive and manage environmental programs including, but not limited to:
- Hazardous Waste (RCRA)
- Universal Waste
- Solid Waste
- Wastewater
- Stormwater prevention (SWPPP)
- Housekeeping in the waste storage area
- Lead and facilitate improvement teams focused on reducing environmental losses and increasing efficiency.
- Promote a strong environmental culture by engaging, influencing, and educating all levels of the organization (manufacturing).
- Deliver training and awareness programs, such as annual environmental campaigns to ensure compliance and foster continuous improvement.
- Monitor, analyze and drive improvements/actions for environmental KAIs and KPIs, ensuring a strong focus on measurable results and continuous performance improvement.
We believe you have
- A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Industrial, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment with responsibility for environmental compliance, ISO 14001, waste management, water management, and energy efficiency.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 14001 standards.
- Working knowledge of Net Zero strategies, carbon foot printing, GHG accounting, and CO₂ reduction initiatives.
- Knowledge of RCRA (Hazardous Waste) programs
- ISO 50001 (Energy Management) knowledge is a plus.
- Solid understanding of applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Proven ability to drive results and deliver measurable environmental improvements.
- A self-driven, proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and take ownership of initiatives and challenges.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks and opportunities and implement effective solutions.
- Experience training and engaging employees on environmental topics.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present recommendations and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Pay Equity
Tetra Pak provides the following compensation range that in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Ranges are determined by role, level and location. Within the range, individual pay is defined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule. The estimate displayed is just one component of Tetra Pak's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards include annual performance bonus, competitive benefits, and work-related allowances.
- Annual Base Salary Range (ABS): $72,500.00 USD – $103,400.00 USD
- Short-term Incentive/Bonus (Variable Pay): Eligible to performance incentive of 10% of ABS
