If you want to be part of an inclusive, adaptable, and forward-thinking organization, apply now.\n\nWe are currently seeking a EPIC ODB Engineer / Architect - Remote to join our team Remote in United States (US).\n\nAn Epic Operational Database Engineer or Architect (ODBA) is responsible for the core Epic database infrastructure, which includes Chronicles (Epic\u2019s proprietary hierarchical database) and its integration with other database systems like Clarity and Caboodle. This role is highly technical and foundational, ensuring that Epic\u2019s backend databases are performant, scalable, and stable. \n \n\n\nChronicles Database Architecture and Maintenance:\n\n * Design, configure, and maintain Epic\u2019s Chronicles database structures.\n * Ensure proper setup of master files, globals, and networked storage to support optimal performance and data integrity.\n * Work with Epic\u2019s tools and guidelines to manage data growth and optimize storage layout. \n \n\n\n\n\nPerformance Tuning and Monitoring: \n \n\n\n * Continuously monitor the operational database for performance bottlenecks (CPU, I/O, cache hit rates).\n * Analyze and optimize global builds, journaling, indexes, and data access patterns.\n * Collaborate with Epic TS (Technical Services) and ECSA teams to fine-tune system performance. \n \n\n\n\n\nUpgrades, Environment Builds, and Data Refreshes:\n\n * Manage and support Chronicles data refreshes, including copying environments (e.g., PRD to TST/DEV) while ensuring data integrity.\n * Participate in and support Epic upgrades and versioning processes from the backend/database side.\n * Architect and automate database components of environment buildouts.\n\n\n\nData Integration and Interoperability Support:\n\n * Ensure seamless data flow between Chronicles, Clarity, Caboodle, and third-party systems.\n * Support tools like Bridges, Interconnect, Cloverleaf, and Beaker that depend on efficient and secure database interactions. \n \n\n\n\n\nSecurity, Compliance, and Disaster Recovery Planning:\n\n * Implement and monitor database backup, restore, and journaling strategies to ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.\n * Maintain tight control over access permissions, encryption, and HIPAA-compliant data practices.\n * Participate in audits and ensure compliance with Epic and regulatory standards\n\n\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\n * 7\u201310+ years of experience supporting Epic as an ODBA, DBA, or database architect.\n * Epic certifications in Chronicles, ODBA, or related technical modules (e.g., Cache/IRIS).\n * Deep expertise with InterSystems Cach\u00e9/IRIS, including globals, journaling, shadowing, and performance tuning.\n * Strong understanding of Epic architecture, including Hyperspace, Interconnect, Web Blob, and ancillary systems.\n * Proficiency with Linux/UNIX administration and shell scripting.\n * Experience with high\u2011availability architectures, clustering, SAN/NAS storage, and virtualization.\n * Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex, high\u2011volume clinical systems.\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n * Experience with cloud\u2011based Epic deployments (Azure, AWS, GCP).\n * Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerization, or infrastructure\u2011as\u2011code.\n * Experience with enterprise monitoring platforms (e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana).\n * Background in healthcare IT, clinical workflows, or EHR modernization initiatives.\n * Experience leading major Epic upgrades, migrations, or performance remediation projects.\n\n\n\nAbout NTT DATA\n\nNTT DATA is a $30+ billion business and technology services leader, serving 75% of the Fortune Global 100.
