Job Description - Equipment Operator II Vacuum Truck (Internal Applicants ONLY)



VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Equipment Operator II – Vacuum Truck
Starting Salary: $38,906
 
Join our dedicated team as an Equipment Operator II and contribute to essential public works Vacuum Truck Operations. This role requires minimal supervision and involves leading and engaging in various projects citywide. We are looking for a team player with experience in vacuum truck operation. *NOTE* This position is currently only open to current City of Fredericksburg employees.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise utility repair and maintenance tasks
  • Participate in and inspect utility work
  • Operate vacuum trucks and perform camera work on sanitary sewer lines
  • Engage in auxiliary duties such as overtime work during special and weather events
  • Supervise and train subordinate employees
  • Keep accurate records of work performed
  • Perform snow removal duties as assigned
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Foster effective working relationships with employees, officials, and the public
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years of experience in maintenance and repair or equivalent education, training, and experience
  • Possession of a commercial driver’s license (minimum Class B; Class A is a plus)
  • Ability to acquire a work zone and flagging certificate from the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Transportation
  • Successful completion of criminal background and driving record checks
