Summary THIS IS AN INDIANA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This position is part of the IN Surface Maintenance Office, Indiana National Guard under Position Description Number D1257000. Responsibilities Serves as a recognized authority on the repair and operation of various types of ARNG equipment. Provides advice, assistance, and guidance regarding maintenance management systems, material readiness programs, cost reduction programs, and maintenance shop practices in maintenance facilities. Prepares and conducts both classroom and on-the-job training designed to upgrade, improve, and/or update the knowledge and working skills of unit maintenance personnel. Evaluates directives to ensure adherence to standard methods, conformity in maintenance procedures, and the proper use of maintenance equipment, facilities, and personnel. Reviews the effectiveness and efficiency of equipment and maintenance management and needs for improvement of existing practices and the impact on the overall maintenance program. Performs hands on maintenance procedures to personnel on proper trade techniques, practices, and explains safety precautions involved in maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MILITARY GRADES: E5 through E9, or WO1 through CW3 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least 1-year equivalent to at least next lower grade level experience, education, or training which provided knowledge and skill in applying commonly used equipment, facility, or service principles and concepts. Experience in the use of tools and test equipment. Experience which provided knowledge of maintenance programs and techniques. Knowledge and skill in applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment design. Experience in the use of tools and test equipment. Experience developing, installing, inspecting, or revising equipment maintenance programs and techniques. Education You may combine education with specialized experience to meet the length of experience requirement for GS-09. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
