ER TECH/HUC - EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

Position: Emergency Department Technician/Health Unit Coordinator \nDepartment: Emergency Department \nShift: 7:00pm-7:30am Full Time Nights, 36 hours a week, 72 hours per pay period \nFacility: Upper Valley Medical Center \n \nThey collaborate with nurses and doctors to provide personalized care for patients. They can:\n\n * Check vital signs, such as temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.\n * Help patients move around, get dressed, and eat.\n * Collect samples like urine.\n * Report any changes in a patient\u0027s condition to a nurse.\n * Walks, ADLs, Weighing Patients; Vitals\n\n\n\nAs an ER Technician, the ER TECH/HUC works under the direction of RN/LPN as part of the health care team to assist with patient care activities. The tasks delegated are those that are in accordance with the Ohio Board of Nursing set by Miami Valley Hospital. \n \nAs a HUC, the ER TECH/HUC coordinates the day to day clerical activities of the nursing unit. The HUC directly/indirectly impacts the patient outcomes and care provided to patients/families/significant others.\n\nEducation: You\u0027ll need a high school diploma or GED.\n\nTraining: Before you start, you\u0027ll need to get a BLS CPR certificate. They can teach you how to do CPR at your orientation, too, so you don\u0027t need to do it beforehand.\n\nExperience: No previous job experience is required, but you should have one of the following:\n\n * Finished EMT, STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.\n * Helped care for patients in the past 5 years\n * Are in nursing school and have finished one clinical rotation.\n\n\n\nOther Skills:\n\n * You can handle doing many things simultaneously, even when people interrupt you, and still be nice.\n * You know how to use a computer.\n * You\u0027re good at organizing things.\n * You can talk and listen well to others.\n * Bonus points: You\u0027ve worked in a hospital before.\n\n\n
