The ESE/ESOL Para-Professional contributes to the Mission and Vision by assisting with services within their assigned NBHS campus/es and providing for the care and well-being of students. Duties are performed under the general supervision of supervisors/teachers.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in maintaining student records, preparing and distributing teaching materials, and grading ESE/ESOL student assignments.
Assist in monitoring students during meal times, special programs/classes, staffing, field-trips, loading and unloading of buses.
Reinforcement of instruction to students and small groups in various situations and programs, and tutoring, under supervision.
Ensure classroom environments and other areas of instruction are designed for the overall safety, care, and enrichment of the students.
Assist in monitoring student behavior, reinforcing discipline, and/or assisting the Crisis Prevention Intervention team.
Assist classroom teachers with preparing for projects, reinforcement of discipline, and the monitoring of development of student daily living skills.
Use technology to enhance instruction and reinforce assigned tasks.
Assist with recruiting and retaining students by visiting the communities where students live.
Support NBHS by attending community service and outreach activities throughout the year.
Provide excellent customer service.
Ensure that all visitors are following NBHS safety guidelines.
Support all NBHS staff and customers in both face-to-face and virtual settings.
Support school Mission by assisting with home visits.
Conduct annual review and propose appropriate updates to the ESE/ESOL Para Reference & Procedures Manual.
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of 60 college credits or Associate of Arts/Science degree from an accredited college/university, or passing score of 464 on the Para Professional Exam
Knowledge of applicable computer software and hardware process applications such as spreadsheets, word-processing, database and operating systems, and/or presentation software
Background check and fingerprinting clearance
Valid Florida driver's license, reliable transportation, and valid automobile insurance
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Environment
Requires working indoors and outdoors. Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing. Generally the job requires 40% sitting, 20% walking and 40% standing. Driving a school bus, sitting, standing, walking, stooping and climbing. The ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 50 pounds. This position may serve multiple campuses and require travel
