We continue to experience significant growth and require the assistance of an Estate Litigation Paralegal to join our Estate Litigation Department. This Paralegal can join us in any of our New York offices: Manhattan, Rockville Centre, Hauppauge, or Mount Kisco.
Responsibilities would include but not be limited to:
Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, court staff and other third parties as necessary
E-filing for state and federal courts
Oversee service of process
Act as liaison between Estate Litigation Department head and department associates
Act as liaison between Estate Litigation Department head and attorneys in other practice areas within firm
General administrative duties; filing and scanning; assemble litigation papers; maintain matter files in electronic systems
In-person attendance to courthouses as necessary
Required:
Minimum of five years of experience as a paralegal dealing primarily with Surrogate’s Court matters in any of New York’s downstate counties (Orange County and points south).
Bachelor's degree or higher
This position is full-time in-office Mon-Fri, though we are willing to consider a hybrid arrangement for the right candidate
Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint.
Experience with e-filing, in-person filing, and procedural rules at downstate Surrogate’s Courts.
Ability to problem-solve procedural and calendaring issues on the fly with minimal supervision.
Experience with Clio, NetDocs, and HotDocs a strong plus.
