Job Description - Estate Planning Associate Attorney

Description

Summary:

Dean Mead, a prominent, mid-sized firm with offices throughout Florida, is seeking an Associate Attorney with 0-5 years of experience in estate planning and estate and trust administrations to join its Estate and Succession Planning Group. This position will be based out of our Orlando office.

The Associate will have the opportunity to work with and learn from a team of experienced estate planning Attorneys, representing over 100 years of combined experience. The Associate will work on sophisticated estate plans, family business succession plans, the administration of large estates and trusts, tax controversies, and estate and trust litigation as part of a collaborative and client-focused team. The Associate also will draft complex legal documents, prepare estate and gift tax returns, and communicate with clients and colleagues to meet our clients’ goals.

Candidates must possess excellent drafting and analytical skills and have a strong academic record. Additionally, candidates should be detail oriented, self-motivated, and have excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Meet with clients to discuss estate planning needs, understand their goals, and provide legal advice. Maintain clear and regular communication with clients, keeping them informed about the progress of their estate planning matters.

· Prepare legal documents such as wills, trusts, and power of attorney documents tailored to clients' specific circumstances.

· Provide guidance on minimizing tax implications related to estate planning, including estate, gift, and GST taxes.

· Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations, conducting legal research as needed to ensure accurate advice and document drafting.

· Collaborate with other legal professionals within the firm, such as tax and real estate attorneys, to offer integrated and comprehensive services.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience:

· Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the state of Florida. An LL.M. in Taxation, or coursework or experience in tax law, is also required.

· Excellent oral and written communication abilities.

· Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills.

· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a legal team.

· High level of professionalism and ethical standards.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
