Job Description
- Counsel clients on estate planning strategies based on their family, financial, and long-term goals.
- Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care proxies, and related estate planning documents.
- Manage probate and estate administration matters from initial filing through settlement and distribution.
- Prepare and review probate petitions, estate accountings, court filings, and supporting documentation.
- Communicate directly with clients, beneficiaries, fiduciaries, courts, and other professionals throughout each matter.
- Handle matters involving New York Surrogate's Courts and applicable probate procedures.
- Assist with elder law, Medicaid planning, guardianship, and incapacity planning matters as experience allows.
- Manage multiple active matters while maintaining strong organization, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Active admission to the New York Bar.
- 1+ years of direct estate planning experience.
- Hands-on experience with estate administration and probate accounting.
- Experience drafting wills, trusts, and related estate planning documents.
- Strong client counseling, writing, organizational, and communication skills.
- Elder law, Medicaid planning, or guardianship experience is preferred.
