Estimating Manager

Independence Excavating is seeking a talented Estimating Manager to join our growing team! The Estimating Manager will lead in various estimates of our strategically developing business by leading in preparing cost estimates for bids and proposals, implementing win strategies, soliciting subcontractors, as well as analyze drawings and specifications. This position will be responsible for applying Independence Excavating’s resources and tools to develop competitive project estimates.

A typical day looks like:

• Prepare competitive cost estimates for bids and proposals.


• Prepare material and other costs summary for quotes from subcontractors and vendors.


• Effectively develop various scope of work for trades, plans and specifications, pricing and bid solicitation.


• Develops project schedules for bid estimates.


• Coordinates bid review summaries, general requirements and participates in project procurement presentations.


• Collaborates with operations and staff to develop best economical ways for projects during the preconstruction process.


• Provides comprehensive deliverables at the completion of each major estimate.


• Improves project profitability opportunities by applying basic understanding of insurance, fees and rates.


• Other duties as assigned

Do you have what it takes?

• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.


• Ability to conduct effective and professional presentations.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with a strong emphasis on Excel skills.


• Proficiency in construction estimating software.


• Knowledge of the means and methods of construction management.


• Knowledge of field operations through project support.


• Ability to prepare quantity surveys.


• Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work.


• Knowledge of self-perform and labor productivity.


• Ability to develop General Requirement estimates.


• Ability to develop proficiency in Agtek, Bluebeam, P6, and HeavyBid.


• Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team.

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field.
