Job Description - Estimator

About us:

We are inspired Placemakers who enhance the built environment with a focus on brand and culture. Across multiple studios, Elements provides a comprehensive portfolio of products and services for the interior built environment. We combine our interiors expertise with construction capability and the collaborative, cross-functional process of human-centered design. This holistic approach to the built environment creates a seamless experience and exceptional results for our clients.

This position is with our studio, Floorz - Colorado’s premier flooring contractor. We believe great design is just the starting point. Our team combines precision, technical expertise, and problem-solving to deliver flooring solutions that are not only beautiful but built to last in high-traffic, demanding environments. As specialists with deep knowledge and a consultative approach, we take pride in executing complex projects with skill and care every step of the way.

Floorz Core Values:

Driven | Knowledgeable | Accomplished | Team-focused

About the role:

As an Estimator at our Floorz studio, you’ll be the numbers wizard behind the scenes, preparing detailed, accurate cost estimates that drive winning bids for interior commercial flooring projects while supporting our sales, design, and project management teams. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of commercial design-build materials and processes. Working independently, you’ll juggle multiple projects each week while ensuring every estimate aligns with client goals and market conditions. If you’re detail-driven, comfortable under pressure, and excited to craft precise estimates that make projects successful, your skills will thrive with us.

What you’ll do:

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates that support sales proposals and bid submissions for commercial flooring projects.
  • Analyze project scope, drawings, and specifications to perform takeoffs, determine labor and equipment needs, and recommend delivery and installation strategies.
  • Build itemized cost breakdowns covering labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and all other project-related expenses.
  • Partner with Sales, Design, and Project Management teams to refine project scope, validate assumptions, and ensure estimates align with client goals and market realities.
  • Utilize industry-standard takeoff and estimating tools, while quickly adapting to internal systems and software.
  • Revisit actual costs against original estimates to evaluate performance and identify opportunities to improve pricing accuracy.
  • Keep internal teams informed by clearly communicating estimate status, key decisions, scope changes, and upcoming deadlines.
  • Identify and flag potential risks early in the estimating process, such as scope gaps, product availability issues, or pricing fluctuations.
  • Maintain and enhance internal templates, cost databases, and vendor pricing records to ensure consistency and competitiveness across all estimates.
  • Help foster client trust by delivering transparent, well-documented estimates that set clear expectations around pricing and timelines.

Requirements

Who you are:

  • You have 2+ years of estimating experience in the construction industry, preferably with a focus on commercial interiors or flooring.
  • You’re familiar with construction materials, methods, and processes, and can confidently read and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • You bring strong analytical and mathematical skills, with a sharp eye for detail and accuracy in calculating quantities and costs.
  • You’re experienced with estimating and takeoff tools such as On-Screen Takeoff, MeasureSquare, or RFMS, and you're quick to learn new systems (ERP experience is a plus).
  • You’re comfortable using Microsoft Office and are familiar with construction project management platforms like Procore, BIM 360, or BuildingConnected.
  • You communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, and collaborate well across teams including Sales, and Project Management.
  • You’re organized, self-motivated, and able to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing accuracy.
  • You stay current on manufacturer products, suppliers, and industry trends that influence cost and scope.
  • You approach problem-solving with a mix of confidence, curiosity, and strategic thinking.
  • You have a high school diploma or equivalent. A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is a plus.

Work Environment:

Hybrid Work Environment: This role is based in Denver, CO and follows a hybrid model, requiring in-office presence 3 days a week to foster effective team collaboration and mentorship, with the flexibility of remote work on other days. Please note that in-office presence Monday-Friday is required during the first 90 days of employment.

Our Benefits:

  • Health, Dental, Vision Insurance
  • Flexible Paid Time Off
  • Retirement Plans
  • Profit Sharing
  • Downtown Parking
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Paid Family Medical Leave
