What You'll Do

  • Prepare and analyze cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.

  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, owner/architect interviews, and sales discussions to define scope and approach.

  • Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and pricing of all project components.

  • Review plans and specifications, communicating requirements to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with project managers to identify value-engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives.

  • Leverage historical data-unit prices, purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity reports, and past estimates-to inform bid pricing.

  • Apply advanced knowledge of construction techniques, principles, and processes to determine labor and material needs.

  • Prepare budget estimates and estimates for self-performed work.

  • Procure subcontractor quotes, ensuring proper coverage prior to bid.

  • Consult with subcontractors and vendors to formulate accurate estimates, resolve issues, and qualify partners post-bid.

  • Conduct studies and develop repeat-customer pricing data.

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships for long-term success.

  • Oversee completion and submission of Prequalification Statements.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of estimating experience in a general contractor environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software (OST experience preferred).

  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.

  • OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain within 12 months).

Why Join Us

At Immel, you’re not just an employee—you’re an Employee-Owner. We value Safety, Craftsmanship, Integrity, Transparency, Community, and Reliability in everything we do. Here, your expertise makes a direct impact on our success, and you’ll enjoy opportunities to grow in your career and within the construction industry.

Additional Qualities We Value

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Professional written and verbal communication.

  • Strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and meet deadlines.

  • Effective negotiation and relationship-building skills.

  • Composure, adaptability, and positivity in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based with occasional travel to pre-bid walkthroughs.
