Estimator I - HVAC Mechanical Equipment

Overview

A growing HVAC and mechanical equipment supplier is seeking a motivated Estimator I to join its estimating team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their estimating career who wants to develop technical product knowledge while supporting commercial construction projects. Working alongside experienced estimators and sales engineers, you'll gain hands-on experience reviewing plans, preparing bids, and learning HVAC equipment selection.

The Role

The Estimator I supports the estimating and sales teams by reviewing construction documents, preparing quotations, and assisting with equipment selections. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple bid deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Review construction plans and specifications to prepare accurate estimates.


• Assist with HVAC equipment selection and value engineering options.


• Prepare pricing and quotations using estimating software and manufacturer selection tools.


• Enter customer and project information accurately into internal systems.


• Coordinate with vendors and internal departments to obtain pricing and technical information.


• Assist with order processing and project documentation.


• Maintain organized project files while managing multiple bid deadlines.


• Provide professional support to internal sales teams.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical or industrial education preferred.


• 1–2 years of estimating, construction, HVAC, or related experience (or equivalent education/training).


• Basic understanding of HVAC or mechanical equipment preferred.


• Strong math and analytical skills.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.


• Experience with Bluebeam or On-Screen Takeoff (OST) is a plus.


• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
