Job Description - ETO Electrical Engineer

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for supporting the Engineering Lead and Product Engineering Manager in the design, development, and execution of electrical systems for large-scale hyperscale data centers. This role oversees the electrical scope throughout all phases of the project lifecycle\u2014including design, construction, assembly, testing, installation, and commissioning.\n\nThe engineer will ensure that all electrical systems meet customer requirements and comply with applicable industry standards, with a focus on safety, reliability, and operational efficiency. Additionally, the Electrical Engineer will play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations and assisting stakeholders with troubleshooting during site installation and commissioning.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nThe Electrical Engineer will support the Engineering Lead and Product Engineering Manager in delivering reliable, efficient, and compliant electrical systems for hyperscale data center infrastructure.\n\nResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:\n\n * Review and approve electrical drawings, documentation, and specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards and support manufacturing and cross-functional teams.\n * Participate in and lead design and development planning sessions to meet customer and industry requirements.\n * Prepare technical requisitions (TRs) for electrical systems, fire protection systems, and related components.\n * Evaluate vendor quotations and provide technical feedback to the procurement team.\n * Develop and complete electrical engineering deliverables including load lists, cable sizing and schedules, single-line diagrams, and system calculations.\n * Design earthing and grounding protection systems.\n * Conduct lighting system design and photometric studies.\n * Generate bulk material take-offs (MTOs) and detailed bills of materials (BOMs).\n * Identify and implement innovative solutions to reduce costs while maintaining quality and schedule integrity.\n * Stay current with industry developments and recommend updates to engineering programs and applications.\n * Execute assignments independently, make technical decisions and represent the organization in meetings and client interactions.\n * Apply advanced engineering knowledge to resolve complex issues and unique project conditions.\n * Operate with minimal supervision, guided by broad objectives and project goals.\n * Analyze electrical systems for load balancing, capacity planning, and power optimization.\n * Recommend emerging technologies to enhance reliability and efficiency of data center products.\n * Serve as the primary technical contact for clients, addressing inquiries and concerns professionally.\n * Provide technical support during construction, responding to RFIs and resolving field issues.\n * Participate in job site visits, project meetings, and commissioning activities as needed.\n\n\n\nEducation:\n\n * Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.\n * Professional Engineering License (Strongly Preferred)\n\n\n\nExperience:\n\n * Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical design and/or engineering, with a strong focus on data center infrastructure.\n * Proficient in producing technical drawings and sketches to communicate design concepts.\n * Hands-on experience with the construction, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems in data centers or commercial buildings.\n * Experience working in high-density and hyperscale data center environments.\n * Strong understanding of electrical power principles, system components, equipment sizing, and design standards.\n * Familiarity with facility-level electrical systems and their operational purpose.\n * Knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including:\n\n\n * * IEC \u2013 International Electrotechnical Commission\n * IBC \u2013 International Building Code\n * OSHA \u2013 Occupational Safety and Health Administration\n * NEC \u2013 National Electric Code\n * NFPA \u2013 National Fire Protection Association\n\n\n * Experience with CAD and BIM software tools.\n * Proven success in fast-track design/build projects or major infrastructure upgrades.\n * In-depth knowledge of UPS systems (uninterruptable power sources), diesel generators, MV/LV (medium and low voltage) switchgear, PDUs (power distribution units) , VFDs (variable frequency drives), ATS/STS (automatic/static transfer switches), control systems, and low-voltage rectification systems and other critical electrical equipment found within data centers.\n * Familiarity with medium and high-voltage power distribution system design.\n * Basic understanding of mechanical systems and their impact on electrical scope.\n * Experience negotiating with regulatory agencies to obtain design approvals and permits.\n * Highly proficient in advanced computer applications, including Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint), PDF editing tools (Adobe Acrobat, Foxit), and specialized software such as ETAP and Dialux.\n * Proficient in engineering and design tools, with working knowledge of SAP (Engineering modules), SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM 360, and Navisworks (Manager/Freedom).\n * Demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities and sound decision-making skills.\n * Skilled at independently managing multiple projects in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.\n * Highly flexible and effective in navigating shifting priorities and multitasking demands.\n * Proven track record of building and sustaining strong client relationships.\n * Creative thinker with a continuous improvement mindset and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.\n * Effective collaborator across cross-functional teams.\n * Fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.\n * Able to clearly articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences.\n * Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.\n\n\n
