We have an immediate hiring need for our full-time manufacturing Machinist Level 2. This is a 1st Shift role (M-F, 6:30AM - 3:00PM), in the ETO department.
Key Responsibilities Setup and select tooling in Steinhauer machine Load and secure components in Steinhauer machine Operate Steinhauer machine Execute preventative maintenance to defined schedule on Steinhauer machine Remove doors and panels from larger cabinets as required Reassemble components and package as required after work content is completed Prioritize and schedule work based on Sharepoint "Master Schedule" Coordinate material availability with materials team to meet Master schedule requirements Convert .DWG file (or other format) as supplied by engineering into .DXF program Collaborate with engineering team to clarify drawing requirements and navigate discrepancies
Temperament
Demonstrate customer focus by understanding and incorporating customer and engineering requirements into work product Works independently and ability to navigate through ambiguous supplied documentation. Ability to take a 2D drawing and based off the drawing, define what features need to be modified or created, what tools to use and what finished dimensions are acceptable. Strong sense of ownership in completing work, but willing to ask for help and questions, as needed Interaction between upstream and downstream process team members Collaborates effectively with team members and actively engages peers from a problem solving perspective Engage engineering or operations Based on workload fluctuations, it is expected this role will assist the proto-type assembler in panel building, mechanicals and electricals or otherwise specified by the Production Supervisor
Information Process Capability
This role will have a minimal level of supervision and a great level of autonomy. Daily work load and priority will be self-managed using digital data and interactions with upstream and downstream team members. Longer term strategic improvement initiatives or shorter term non-primary job function activities may be required and will be initiated and supervised by their direct leader on a more frequent basis. This role works unsupervised through the duration of and projects that they are aligned with. Typical duration of time on a given project ranges from a number of hours to several days. This role's leader will periodically engage and verify the progress and quality of the product being worked on during this time This role is required to determine the best method for mounting, setting up, programming, and verifying product correctness. In addition, will be required to determine the correct tooling to use, as well as the dimensions required based on knowledge and interpretation of the components that will be mounted in the panels and cabinets that they are modifying. While making decisions it's critical to balance safety, cost, quality and delivery to make sure none of these are compromised. Will be required to plan and prioritize to meet short and long term activities. Perform complex problem solving to define their work actions based on their knowledge, training, and documentation provided. Demonstrate active listening, analysis, research, creativity, and team work to overcome problems. This role is an average level machinist role and is expected to perform moderate levels of CNC machining functions. The interpretation of drawings, documents, and schematics can make the role complex as many requirements and work actions are not explicate, rather need to be inferred by this role based on said documentation. This role is required to create CNC programs that are unique for each project produced. When taking an issue to engineering this position is expected to have a potential solution to correct the problem. Able to perform billable project work at an average rate of greater than 85% when comparing quoted time to actual time.
Accepts Role Requirements
This role is expected to take ownership of the product that is being built which means being committed to completing the project on time, defect free, at the lowest possible cost. May be expected to work overtime during the week and/or weekend. Although the majority of the role will be performed alone this role will regularly interact with others in the same department as well as roles upstream and downstream. This role is expected to contribute to and participate in strategic business initiatives that will be focused on improving safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Expected to do complex levels of problem solving on product they are working on.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma required, some technical school or machining certificate preferred. Minimum of 2 years CNC experience required Ability to interpret drawings created and presented in 2D required. Ability to apply 2D drawing layouts to actual 3D product required. Ability to use and interpret metrology equipment such as caliper, tape measure, and similar required. Experience in machining 6 sided thin metallic cabinets is a plus, such as electrical cabinets.
Preferred Qualifications A minimum of 2 years CAD experience preferred Experience in a low volume custom environment 3 years overall experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
