The Evening Technologist 1 main duties include data entry, specimen processing and analysis of clinical samples. Responsibilities may be limited to one testing area or may overlap across lab departments. This position also provides support to the clinic personnel and clients in the ordering of laboratory tests and proper specimen collection. All laboratory technologists report to department supervisors and the laboratory manager.
Current disciplines of testing at Valley Medical include toxicology, immunology and infectious disease.
Primary Responsibilities:
Receive and organize laboratory samples
Sample processing, analysis and reporting of results
Perform and evaluate quality control and calibrations
Instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
Prepare reagents, controls and standards as appropriate per assay/test system SOP.
Analyze proficiency samples as a part of standard patient workflow
Create and submit reports to laboratory management
Document corrective and preventative action in all testing procedures
Assemble test kits
Manage inventory
Able to analyze data to distinguish questionable assay performance and escalate as appropriate.
Operate and maintain robotic liquid handling instrumentation and equipment
Follow all Valley Medical policies and procedures
Provide customer service to Valley Medical staff and clients
Adequate vision required for close, peripheral, depth perception capabilities, and the ability to adjust focus.

Required Education, Experience and Credentials:
Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in chemical, biological, or Medical Laboratory Science or a two year associates degree and certified as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (ASCP or equivalent)
Ability to work independently
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time
Able to work in fast-paced environment to maintain test quality and efficiency
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
At least 1+ year of laboratory work experience.
Experience with immunoassay analyzers, LC/MS systems, PCR
Previous experience with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Previous experience with an Electronic Medical Records System (EMR).
Additional Position Details: (hours, locations, commute)
Schedule is 4:00PM-1:00AM (1hr break), 8:00am-4:30pm, and/or 12:00pm-8:30pm, Monday through Friday but may vary based upon business needs and growth of services.
Job location is the Corporate Lab located in Burnsville, MN
There is no commuting requirement for the position as a normal part of work responsibilities.
OPT and CPT are accepted.
Compensation:
$21.00 an hour

Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, qualifications, education, internal equity and business needs.
