Job Description - Event Manager
EVENT MANAGER ,
Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE) , to create, develop, and execute strategies for effective event content and delivery of high-profile events (25-30 per academic year on average).
Will lead all on- and off-campus events (e.g., lectures, reunions, retreats, graduations, conferences, workshops, parties, seminars, etc.) that reach wide and varied audiences within and beyond MIT.
Responsibilities include:
Leading the planning and execution of events;
Participating on cross-functional project teams and proactively engaging in continuous improvement of program operations;
Serving as technical and logistical resource for events and primary point of contact for speakers/participants;
Liaising with stakeholders and ensuring customer satisfaction;
Nurturing and building relationships with vendors, venues, and other industry contacts;
Managing events budgets, expenses, and reimbursements;
Working with the MIT Events Office to register events and ensure guidelines are followed;
Keeping up with recurring event invitation lists and updates, working with relevant colleagues to create invite lists;
Working with DMSE communications officer to convey publicity plan and prepare marketing and event collateral;
Evaluating, recommending, and implementing operational changes and enhancements for future programs;
Assuring timely publishing and distribution of event information/materials; and
Remaining current with event planning trends.
