Event Support Staff – Yemeni Heritage Day (1-Day ONLY Assignment)

Saturday, June 21, 2025

• Standard Shift (Ages 18+): 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM (10 hours)
   
• Minors (Under 18): Up to 8 hours maximum, per NYS labor law
   

Location:
Bay Ridge, Brooklyn – 67th Street between 5th and 6th Avenue

Compensation:

• Ages 18 and up: Flat rate of $250 for a full 10-hour shift
   
• Under 18: Flat rate of $200 for an 8-hour shift
   

Position Summary:
The Yemeni American Merchants Association (YAMA) is hiring one-day event staff to support the Yemeni Heritage Day Festival, a cultural celebration with food, music, and community vendors. Staff members will assist with setup, support during the event, and help close out and clean up at the end of the day.

Key Responsibilities:

• Arrive promptly and assist with event setup (tents, tables, signage, supplies)
   
• Help check in and support vendors, artists, and performers
   
• Provide directions and assist guests as needed throughout the day
   
• Keep the event area clean and orderly
   
• Assist with transitions between performances or activities
   
• Participate in event breakdown and cleanup from 7:00–8:00 PM
   
• Follow instructions from event managers and senior YAMA staff
   
• Be courteous, professional, and proactive in all assigned tasks
   

Additional Requirements for Minors (Under 18):

• May only work up to 8 hours in accordance with NYS labor laws
   
• Will be compensated at a flat rate of $200
   
• Must submit valid working papers and a signed parental permission form prior to the event
   

Qualifications:

• Must be 16 years or older to apply
   
• Able to lift up to 30 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods
   
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow clear directions
   
• Friendly attitude and willing to engage with the public
   
• Prior event or customer service experience is a plus but not required
