Pay: $90,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year

Location: Traverse City, MI — On-site. This is a hands-on field leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys being on the jobsite, leading crews, operating equipment, and seeing projects progress from start to finish.

Note: Must have at least 3+ years of excavation experience, a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, and hands-on proficiency operating excavation equipment.

Job Description

  • Lead and supervise excavation and site development crews to deliver safe, efficient, high-quality work.
  • Coordinate daily crew activities, jobsite priorities, equipment, materials, and deliveries.
  • Partner with project managers, subcontractors, inspectors, customers, and owners to keep projects moving and resolve field issues.
  • Communicate clearly with crews and project stakeholders to maintain productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Anticipate jobsite needs, take initiative, and keep work progressing toward successful completion.
  • Operate excavation equipment, hand tools, power tools, and other heavy equipment as needed.
  • Assist with field labor when necessary and lead by example on the jobsite.
  • Complete daily documentation including job hazard forms, toolbox talks, equipment time reports, and work orders.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, surveys, and job specifications.
  • Monitor equipment condition, maintain clean and organized equipment, and coordinate repairs or scheduled maintenance.
  • Enforce company safety policies, procedures, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Help create a positive, accountable, and collaborative jobsite environment where crews can perform at their best.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of excavation experience required.
  • Previous crew leadership or foreman experience preferred.
  • Strong proficiency operating excavation and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints.
  • Strong mathematical skills for interpreting surveys, measurements, and job specifications.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive, dependable work ethic with a hands-on, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and lead others in the field.
