Excavation Helper

Jim Dandy Sewer & Plumbing, operating for over 115 years in the Puget Sound area, is looking for an a reliable and hard working Excavation Helper. As an Excavation Helper, you will assist with excavation and site preparation on construction & sewer projects. This role involves physical labor, assisting equipment operators, and ensuring safety protocols are followed on-site. This is a great opportunity to be a part of a long-standing company.

Responsibilities Include:

• Assist excavation crew with digging, grading, trenching, and backfilling tasks
• Prepare, clear, and clean job sites before and after excavation
• Support the operation of excavation equipment by signaling or guiding machinery
• Set up safety barriers, warning signs, and other site safety measures
• Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment
• Maintenance of tools & equipment ensuring they are cleaned & stored properly
• Measure and mark excavation areas according to site plans
• Follow direction from the site supervisor or foreman
• Report any hazards or equipment issues immediately
• Assist with drainage systems, pipe installation, or utility locating as needed

• Previous construction or excavation experience preferred
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physical labor in all weather conditions
• Good character and ability to work with a team and our customers
• Willingness to work in trenches, confined spaces, or uneven terrain
• Basic understanding of safety practices and willingness to wear PPE
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor
• Ability to work as part of a team and take direction
