The Vermont State Archives and Records Administration (VSARA) is seeking a highly collaborative and innovative problem-solver with a strong technical background and deep understanding of information governance, from policy development to implementation and ongoing management. This position is integral to executive branch agency and department records management programs.
What Will You Do?
Supervising a small team of RIM specialists within VSARA and working closely with more than 30 state agencies and departments and their records officers, attorneys, technologists, business managers, and others, you will direct, lead and be responsible for providing professional, targeted assistance to agency and department records management programs and to specific state projects and initiatives as assigned. Common deliverables include:
• Information analyses, appraisals and schedules to implement robust lifecycle management for legal compliance and internal controls, particularly for data and digital records, in specific agency or department systems and in enterprise and statewide systems.
• Information management standards to support findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability of data and records in current and future systems for knowledge and discovery.
• Statewide training and education for continuous improvement and performance management.
This position is best suited for someone who is committed to fostering collaborations, relationships, strategies, and technologies for the benefit of Vermonters; brings hands-on experience in one or all of the common deliverables; and is genuinely interested in the administration and management of Vermont public records and information, including data, to support Vermont government and the public we collectively serve.

Work is performed in a standard office setting, but some travel may be required for which private means of transportation should be available. Work outside of regular business hours may be expected.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in library or information sciences, public administration, information technology, or related field AND seven (7) or more years of records and information management (RIM) experience in a government or corporate environment INCLUDING at least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Graduate level coursework or degree in information systems (MIS/MISM), library and information science (MLIS/MLS), public administration (MPA), or another related area of study, including Juris Doctor (JD).
Professional certification, such as Certified Records Manager (CRM), Certified Records Analyst (CRA), Certified Information Professional (CIP), Information Governance Professional (IGP), and other certificates of specialization in information governance or records management from AIIM, ARMA, ICRM, and similar associations.
