This executive leader sets the vision and strategy for community engagement across all Banner Health markets, strengthening our presence and deepening relationships in the communities we serve. The role drives innovative partnerships and mobilizes community resources as powerful extensions of Banner’s care delivery and population health efforts. With a strong focus on brand elevation, this leader shapes compelling messaging and outreach that enhances visibility, trust, and organizational impact. Serving as a key liaison to community leaders, public officials, and stakeholders, this role builds influential partnerships that advance Banner’s mission. This is a highly visible opportunity to lead with purpose, champion community connection, and make a lasting difference in the health and well-being of the populations we serve.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive community engagement strategies that strengthen Banner Health's presence and relationships across all markets. This executive-level position leads efforts to maximize community resources as adjuncts to Banner's care delivery, elevate organizational messaging and brand recognition, and foster meaningful community partnerships. The role ensures consistent community engagement across all Banner markets through strategic planning, accountability frameworks, and measurement of sponsorship and event investments. This position serves as a key liaison between Banner Health and community leaders, agencies, and stakeholders to advance the organization's mission and enhance its impact on the communities served.

CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Develops and executes a comprehensive community engagement strategic plan that aligns with Banner Health's mission, vision, and organizational goals across all markets.

2. Maximizes community resources and partnerships to serve as adjuncts for Banner's care delivery, identifying and cultivating relationships with community leaders, agencies, and organizations that support patient care and population health objectives.

3. Elevates Banner Health's messaging and brand through strategic communication initiatives, public relations activities, and community outreach programs that enhance organizational reputation and visibility.

4. Engages community support by building and maintaining collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including public officials, media representatives, business leaders, and community organizations.

5. Ensures consistent community engagement across every Banner Health market by establishing standards, frameworks, and best practices for local implementation.

6. Holds local teams accountable for mapping community leaders and agencies, assigning community ambassadors, and executing market-specific engagement strategies through regular monitoring and performance evaluation.

7. Prioritizes sponsorships and events by establishing criteria for investment decisions, measuring impact and return on investment, and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and community needs.

8. Provides strategic leadership and direction to community engagement teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence in community relations.

9. Represents Banner Health at high-level community events, forums, and meetings, serving as an organizational spokesperson and advocate for health care initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a thorough knowledge of community engagement and/or business as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, or related field. Must have a minimum of ten years of progressive experience in community engagement, public relations, business development, or related fields, with demonstrated experience in executive-level leadership roles.

Must demonstrate strong statistical and analytical skills with proven track record in exercising good judgment in dealing with public officials and the media. Experience developing collaborative relationships with internal and/or external strategic partners and other applicable parties is essential. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as human relations and team building skills required to lead and influence all levels of the organization and other constituents. Excellent human relations, organizational and communication skills are essential. Leadership style and characteristics necessary to effectively perform in this role include strong work ethic; results-oriented; persuasive; motivational; able to make rational decisions in difficult situations; inspirational; honorable; confident; systems-thinker; innovative; life-long learner; courageous; high-energy; integrity; collaborator; ability to work with teams; good listening; nonvolatile; community visibility and leadership.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, public health, communications, or related field preferred. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
