About the Role The Executive Director for Engineering, Utilities, and Technical Services is a pivotal leadership role with a focus on creating and maintaining a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing a wide range of operations, including utility generation and distribution, maintenance, engineering, projects, building management systems, automation, and technical support services. This role requires a hands-on approach to ensure the reliability of utility services with a strong emphasis on driving efficiency, introducing new technologies, and using data, analytics, and benchmarking to improve performance. The Executive Director will also be accountable for the development and delivery of a utility master plan, a robust life cycle asset management program, and a site carbon reduction and net zero strategy.Candidates must have a BS in Science or Engineering, or equivalent, and a minimum of 10 years of experience in a multi-faceted operational environment. The role demands very strong people management, communication, change management, and negotiating skills, as well as enterprise leadership and a growth mindset. Knowledge of utilities in chemical, biologics, or pharmaceutical manufacturing operations, as well as program management skills and the ability to define strategic vision, are essential. The ideal candidate will also have a strong background in regulatory compliance, including OSHA, NFPA, DOT, and cGMPs, and a proven track record of managing union labor and third-party supplier partners. Experience with external partners, agencies, townships, and a Lean Six Sigma certification are preferred. The role requires a strategic thinker who can effectively manage a large integrated workforce and is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion.
