Executive Director, Facilities Management Healthcare

Overview

A leading academic health system is seeking an experienced Executive Director, Facilities Operations to lead facilities management across a large ambulatory care network supporting 300+ outpatient locations throughout Northeast Ohio.

This executive will drive operational excellence, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and strategic facilities planning across a complex, multi-site healthcare environment. The role partners closely with senior leadership, clinical stakeholders, and operational teams to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered facility operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for facilities operations across a large ambulatory and multi-site healthcare portfolio
• Lead development and execution of a scalable facilities management strategy for outpatient care locations
• Oversee maintenance, engineering, asset management, vendor performance, and service delivery
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, life safety standards, accreditation requirements, and environmental policies
• Drive standardization, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across all facilities operations
• Collaborate with executive leadership, physicians, administrators, and operational leaders to align facilities strategy with organizational goals
• Manage large teams across multiple sites, including multi-level leadership structures
• Oversee operating budgets, forecasting, cost optimization, and financial performance
• Support construction, renovation, and capital improvement initiatives as needed
• Manage outsourced services including security, grounds, logistics, and support operations where applicable

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience required
• Minimum 7+ years of facilities management, engineering, or integrated operations leadership experience
• Minimum 7+ years of management experience leading large teams
• Proven experience managing multi-site healthcare facilities portfolios
• Strong background in hard and soft facilities services (engineering, maintenance, operations support)
• Demonstrated success working within healthcare systems, ambulatory networks, or academic medical environments
• Experience collaborating with executive leadership (C-suite, physicians, hospital administrators)
• Strong financial acumen with budget ownership and performance management experience
