Job Description - Executive Director of Human Resources
The Executive Director of Human Resources oversees the employee life cycle for 250 corporate staff and 5,000+ IT contractors for Artech’s U.S. staffing business, managing all Corporate HR & HR Operations functions including Employee Relations, Benefits, Business Partnership, Compensation, Continuous Improvement, Corporate Recruiting, Onboarding & Background Check, Performance Management, Talent Management Support, Training & Development, and Recordkeeping.
The position is a member of the executive management team and is a key contributor to the growth of the business, maturation of the executive team, management, and staff, and providing strategic and tactical support. This leadership position also focuses on continuous development of a mature HR practice, Executive Coaching/Mentoring, M&A due diligence and integration, and nurturing a high-performance work culture with an emphasis on HR communications, team building, spirit events, and storytelling.
Areas of Responsibility: Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention. Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, initiatives, processes, training, and surveys to support the organization's strategic objectives and compliance needs. Oversees and/or administers HR programs including compensation, continuous improvement. benefits, employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, talent management (contractor care), people & culture, and training and development. Manages the following HR functions with resources in the United States, India, and Canada: Corporate HR with a staff of sixteen including four direct reports. Talent Management (Contractor Care) with a staff of thirty with one direct report. Onboarding & Background Check (OBGC) with a staff of fifteen with one direct report. Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management. Oversees corporate training and leadership development programs to meet company’s resource needs and growth goals. Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's internal systems. Monitors the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, recommends best practices, and updates policies and practices as needed. Maintains knowledge of business, human resources, and staffing industry trends for best practices, regulatory changes, modern technologies, talent management, and employment law. Provides executive coaching and mentoring on ad-hoc basis or by planned engagement. Curator of the CEO’s President Circle Program and annual trip for top producers Conducts round table reviews, succession planning and performance reviews including monthly performance review of producers on incentive plans. Administers the Corporate Annual bonus plan, Corporate Recruiting Incentive plans, Talent Management Incentive Plan, annual salary planning and off-cycle requests. Oversees yearly calendar of spirit, charity, team building and cultural events. Develops and implements budgets for hr departments and company benefits working in partnership with Finance. Administers benefits plans including determining cost sharing strategy, plan design, and designating employee classes for corporate and contractor classes working in partnership with CFO. Performs other duties as required.
Requirements Bachelor’s or higher degree in HR or Business, an MBA is a plus. 10+ years in an executive HR leadership role in a corporate environment Ideal background includes HR specialist, generalist, and business partnership experience. Experience managing global resources preferred. IT staffing/consulting industry experience strongly preferred. Ability to coach and mentor executives. Ability to communicate and sell company value proposition. Technical Proficiency with HR Systems, PeopleSoft desirable. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent consultative and negotiation skills. Excellent diagnostic information gathering skills. Excellent time management skills with an ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS & ATS systems.
