Organizational Overview



Grow Public Schools (GPS), founded by the Grimm Family Education Foundation opened its doors in August 2011.  Located in Arvin, California, Grow Academy is an independent public charter school where health and wellness is at the center of student success.  Grow Academy implements a rigorous blended learning model where students actively engage in a unique, diversified learning environment in our Learning Lab, music program, physical education, and Edible Schoolyard (ESY) program.  



In 2016, Grow Public Schools (GPS), formerly Grimmway Schools, was established as the Charter Management Organization (CMO) responsible for support and management of the academies.  Today, GPS is redefining academic excellence in Kern County as a multi-campus charter school operator.  GPS operates Grow Academy (GA) Arvin, and GA Shafter, both TK-8 schools with over 800 students.  We hold high expectations for our students, parents, teachers, and staff to ensure a supportive and successful learning environment to close the opportunity gap in some of the highest need communities in California.



Job Summary:  Under the direction of the Coordinator of Educational Programs, the ELO Program Manager  is responsible for implementing and day-to-day management of the supplemental (before and after school) expanded learning programs on their site. The ELO Program Manager will also ensure Fall, Winter, and Spring intercessions are developed and implemented with age-appropriate programs for TK- 8th, including literacy enrichment, instructional interventions, homework assistance, recreational and structured play, as well as other enrichment opportunities. 
In collaboration with the Coordinator of Educational Programs and school site administration, the Afterschool Program Site Lead will ensure development, implementation, and adequate supervision of daily ELOP programming and ensure the safety and well-being of all children.



Duties and Responsibilities will include: 



  • Organizes, coordinates and supervises supplemental educational and recreational programming before and after school hours, including ensuring adequate staffing coverage. 

  • Supervises, mentors, and acts as regulatory authority for afterschool activity leaders, after school office clerk, lead afterschool activity leader, and the after school P.E facilitator, as well as participate in the identification and selection of effective staff.

  • In collaboration with the after school office clerk, ensures the maintenance of accurate and complete student records at school sites

  • Implements age-appropriate programs and activities for students in grades TK-8 including literacy, enrichment, instructional interventions, homework assistance, meal time, recreational, structured play and sports events and schedules in collaboration with the afterschool PE facilitator, organizes special events, and provides for additional related enrichment opportunities.

  • Will be responsible for the daily maintenance of the afterschool memo to staff, weekly staff schedules and assignments, and weekly communications with site administrators.

  • Under direction of the Coordinator of Educational Programs, ensures program compliance with all applicable policies and procedures, state and federal requirements, and standards of quality programming and safety.

  • Be the primary point of contact for site administrators, families, and school staff in all matters related to the program’s operations and success.

  • Acts as disciplinary authority for student behavioral issues.

  • Assists with the development and implementation of all quarterly academic intersessions (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer)and acts as the administrator designee, main point of contact and authority for those intersessions

  • Assists with the development and implementation of all Saturday Enrichment Academies on site periodically throughout the academic school year, including activity building, ensuring adequate staffing and coverage, and cleanup.

  • Meets regularly with the Coordinator of Educational Programs to plan and assess the program

  • Meets with site administrators periodically to plan and assess the program.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed by the Coordinator of Educational Programs.



Requirements:



  • Bachelor’s degree

  • CA Credential preferred

  • Previous experience in a related leadership position (program director, teacher, curriculum specialist, etc.).

  • Experience working with economically underserved students

  • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish proficiently preferred

The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; walk; use hands to finger; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The employee is occasionally required to push, move, lift or otherwise bear up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.  Specific hearing abilities are required by this job.



Work Environment: This position is in-person, in instructional facilities located in Kern County. Some travel is required to other work sites.
