Job Description - Expeditor I

A Day in the Life

An Expeditor I is responsible for ensuring the timely flow of materials and components needed for production by closely monitoring inventory levels and production schedules. On a daily basis, they coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to track orders, confirm delivery dates, and address any delays or shortages that could impact manufacturing timelines. The role involves facilitating the movement of materials between departments, maintaining accurate records in inventory management systems, and assisting with inventory control activities such as cycle counts and discrepancy investigations. Expeditors also proactively identify and help resolve any bottlenecks in the supply chain, collaborating with purchasing, warehouse, and production teams to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.

2nd shift -12:00 pm - 8:45 pm

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Expedites, routes, and dispatches material and parts in accordance with production schedules and commitments.
  • Reviews master production schedule to determine possible and actual shortages and alerts proper authorities of potential problems.
  • Generates progress reports on schedule status and keeps records of completed orders.
  • Takes appropriate action to expedite materials such as order damaged material repaired or in-house material transportation.
  • Reports on completion dates, material changes or substitutions, shortages, and schedule modifications.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Recommended basic job knowledge of production-related systems and procedures.

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience in medical device or regulated manufacturing environments
  • Basic knowledge of supply chain principles
  • Intermediate communication skills in both English and Spanish
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.)
  • Ability to interpret and analyze production schedules
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to identify and escalate potential delays or bottlenecks proactively
