What does a Parts Counter Person do?

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Parts sales process from start to finish.


• Communicate with staff and customers in a friendly and professional manner.


• Converse effectively/efficiently regarding customer parts status.


• Read and understand the parts catalog when looking up and speaking to specific parts.


• Answer phone calls, provide price quotes and other information to customers.


• Review estimates to verify the parts ordered are correct and all pricing is in line with the estimate.


• Provide high level service to both internal and external customers.


• Pull/fill orders from stock and maintain weekly bin checks to ensure accuracy of stock.


• Notify parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.


• Locate out-of-stock parts from outside source and submit an emergency order, if necessary.


• Make sure all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair order.


• Receive payment from retail customers.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of automotive parts experience


• Must be a “team player”


• Must be reliable, with the ability to be at work on time


• Exceptional ability to learn and grow


• Amazing work ethic


• Detail oriented


• Ability to learn from veteran staff


• Must be able to work with a team and take direction


• Ability and willingness to adopt modern technology


• Strong written and verbal communication skills


• Proficiency in use of basic computer and phone systems


• Ability to bend, move, lift and physically perform duties in the scope of this position.

• Moderate computer skills are needed


• You will walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, etc. for extended periods of time and perform activities involving holding, grasping, pulling and turning


• Working in an indoor parts department but you will need to help receive parts outside the loading door.


• Always be alert and aware of your surroundings, safety is a priority!


• Come to work with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
