Howl At The Moon Mechanicals, LLC was started by owner Jonathan Toohill in February 2017. A truck, some house tools and a lot of drive allowed him to quickly jump start the business and serve the Tri-Lakes region with his top quality mechanical and construction work.
Soon after start up, Jonathan treated himself to a birthday gift – the company’s first trailer. He quickly stocked it with all the tools he needed to expand services offered to match his growing vision of the company. The trailer allowed him to complete a wide variety of jobs, on time and with careful attention to detail and quality. Howl At The Moon took off running as Jonathan hustled and assisted many Tri-Lakes businesses and homeowners with their HVAC and construction needs.
Working hard to keep up with the quickly growing business, Jonathan realized it was time to get some help. Feeling stretched thin like many new business owners, his days were long as he ran between job sites and meetings, touching base with both existing customers and new clients. Help finally arrived with the hiring of Howl At The Moon’s first employee, Kelly Starkweather. With Kelly on board, Jonathan was able to expand the business to where it is today – one of the leading companies in the Tri-Lakes area. Jonathan credits the business’s success to taking big risks, working long hours, and maintaining a good network of colleagues and friends.
Howl At The Moon has been serving Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake and surrounding areas since 2017, and is well positioned to continue on this path of excellence well into the future.
After establishing Howl At The Moon as a successful start up, Jonathan’s adventures in business continued, Managing one business of 20 employees was a challenge, but he felt like he could take on more to better serve his client base. In 2021, he decided to purchase Cascade Electrical Supply in Lake Placid. Consistent with outcomes of Jonathan’s past leadership, Cascade is thriving under his guidance and vision, and will continue to grow with his team’s hard work and perseverance.
Jonathan’s background and strong character traits strongly influence Howl At The Moon’s philosophy and direction. Jonathan is from the small town of Malone, NY, and graduated at the top of his high school class before going on to Clarkson University. After 4 years of study, some bad academic advising left him one course short of completing his degree. For 12 years, not earning that diploma bothered Jonathan. Upon hiring his first employees, Jonathan finally completed that final college course – with an A- and he didn’t stop there. While hitting the books again, Jonathan took an additional business class which led to him to expand the company even further. Jonathan continues to model and teach that hard work and dedication to a good job are keys to success at Howl At The Moon Mechanicals.
Most importantly, Howl At The Moon Mechanicals LLC is driven by the philosophy that family comes first. Employees are part of a close-knit team, developing strong working relationships, and often spending a lot of time together outside work with their families at their sides. Howl At The Moon really does reflect a pack mentality, and employees know that ultimately they make each other better and stronger by working together.
