Job Description - Experienced Highway Lighting & Traffic Signal FOREMAN

Bonuses paid to selected candidates for CDL openings!



Minimum starting $23.00 plus, per hour, depending on qualifications.



The Levy Company is currently hiring an experienced Highway Lighting & Traffic Signal FOREMAN for the Rio Grande Valley area. All candidates must adhere to strict safety standards while ensuring the highest quality of work is completed efficiently and timely. 

The Highway Lighting & Traffic Signal Construction FOREMAN will guide a crew on various projects building traffic signals, highway and street lighting, infrastructure and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) within Texas.



Essential Functions may include but are not limited to:




  1. Reads utility locates, coordinates potholing, and ensure the worksite is safe for work and perform all required safety duties

  2. Underground conduit, mounting devices, installing poles, and drilling caissons

  3. Estimate material or worker requirements to complete jobs.

  4. Ensure all material and equipment needed are available to complete the job prior to beginning work.

  5. Installation of required equipment, wiring of equipment, and trouble shooting and integration of required equipment

  6. Record and submit personnel, production, equipment, and other operational data on specified forms, reports, and systems.

  7. Assign work based on employee qualifications and job procedures.

  8. Assist workers engaged in construction activities, using hand tools and other equipment.



Required Qualifications:



  1. At least three years of experience in heavy highway construction.

  2. At least one year in a foreman role in heavy highway construction.

  3. Valid class C driver license.



Preferred Qualifications:



  1. Valid Texas commercial driver license.

  2. IMSA Level 2 certification



Required Competencies:



  1. Advanced understanding of construction practices and use of tools and equipment in construction.

  2. Effective leadership skills with the ability to appropriately motivate subordinate employees.

  3. Ability to operate heavy equipment such as backhoe, bucket truck, & boom truck.

  4. Basic mathematical skills.

  5. Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  6. Ability to organize own work and that of others.

  7. Ability to comprehend and apply oral and written instructions.

  8. Ability to provide oral and written instructions.

  9. Ability to complete work accurately, timely, and safely under minimal supervision.



Working Environment:


Work is performed in primarily outdoor environments with constant exposure to noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving objects, sharp edges, and temperature extremes



Physical Demands:



  1. Frequent operation of equipment with vibrating and moving parts.

  2. Frequent and repeated hand and arm movement to manipulate tools, handles, and levers.

  3. Frequent and repeated lifting from ground to various heights up to 50 pounds individually, and team lifting heavier items.

  4. Frequent and repeated exerting of force up to 100 pounds.

  5. Standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  6. Frequent walking on uneven and / or unpaved terrain.

  7. Frequent climbing steps, ladders, and in/out/onto vehicles.

  8. Frequent and repeated bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, reaching, and crouching.

  9. Visual acuity to drive motor vehicles and mobile equipment and to read printed and electronic documents.

  10. Hearing capacity to receive, perceive, and react to common driving and construction environment noises.
